Amazing Slovenia: All You Need To Know About Pohorje Treetop Walk

What is Pohorje Treetop Walk?

Pohorje Treetop Walk Slovenia, also known as The Tree Top Walk, is located in Rogla on the northeastern side of Slovenia. Rogla has been a tourist popular tourist destination, famous for its skiing, hiking, and spa resort. Now Rogla also has a fabulous viewing platform, Pohorje Treetop Walk! Pohorje Treetop Walk is a walk along a 1000m path between the trees to fantastic views of Slovenia that span across the mountains. If you’ve ever wanted to see Slovenia from up top, this is a great opportunity to do so.

But like, isn’t it a tourist trap?

OK but here is where it gets even better – Pohorje Treetop Walk was made to encourage green tourism. Not only was the Pohorje Treetop Walk created with minimal impact to its surroundings, but they have planted new trees for the trees that were cleared. That way you don’t have to feel so bad giving into this instagrammable tourist trap (but seriously, it’s way cool).

What Is there to do at Rogla?

Walk to the top of the Treetop Walk

Once you’ve made it up the 37-metre high viewing tower (don’t worry – it’s not too strenuous AND it’s wheelchair and pram friendly), you’ll be rewarded with views of the Kamnik-Savinja, the Triglav Alps, and all the way to the Adriatic Sea. Pretty cool, huh?

The great thing about this location is the path is very well put together, easy to walk, and there is plenty of space for everyone. In fact, when we visited we were one of the only groups there! That means you really get to have all those beautiful views for yourself. Just keep in mind it does get pretty windy at the top!

Get in touch with nature

The best part about Pohorje Treetop Walk is that it is built in a forest with a highly complex ecosystem that provides a habitat for many Slovenian plants and animals. The Pohorje Treetop Walk is filled with learning experiences along the walk to help people understand how important and unique Slovenian nature is.

Face your fear of heights

If you’re a scary cat like me, this spot can seem a little daunting. But luckily, the walk is quite sturdy and the views make up for that I’m-going-to-fall-to-my-death feeling. If you are thrill seeker, you can even take a 60 metre-long slide on your way down! There are also parts of the walk where you can view down (but you do not have to walk over these to get to the top). Rogla also has a nearby ski-lift which gives views of the plateau on top of the mountain. There are hikes around the area in warmer months, too.

When is the best time to go to the Pohorje Treetop Walk?

I went in spring (last week of April) and there was still snow on the mountain, but the day was not too cold. It is a good idea to keep an eye on the weather warnings if you visit during the colder months, as the road can be a bit dangerous with snow. I would recommend visiting in spring or autumn/fall as generally the weather will be mild and the skies will be clearer. Pohorje Treetop Walk Slovenia is located in Rogla mountain. The best way to get to Rogla is by car. There are plenty of parking spots at the top, just look for the signs.
