I’m so excited to share the most instagrammable locations in Ljubljana that I’ve found during my travels there!

The best spots to take photos in Ljubljana
Ljubljana Castle / Ljubljanski Grad
Ljubljana Castle (Ljubljanski Grad) is a must see when you visit Ljubljana City. The castle is nestled on top of Castle Hill, looking down on the city. It also features Michelin starred restaurants and a cosy cafe, which are perfect for enjoying the views of the city. During winter, the castle is dressed up in illuminations and it is 100% worth bracing the cold to see the views of the city lit up in Christmas lights.

Ljubljana Old Town
Ljubljana Old Town is a small area below Ljubljana Castle that centres around Prešeren Square (Prešernov trg). It is one of the best spots to visit and take photos in Ljubljana. There you will find the Franciscan Church and the Triple Bridge. Like most of Europe’s Old Towns, Ljubljana’s Old Town is what I would consider the most picturesque area of the city and it is perfect for taking photos. I recommend walking from Preseren Square down to Saint James Bridge (Šentjakobski Most), and then crossing the bridge and walking down Križevniška Street (Križevniška Ulica). There you can wander the small streets and riverside until you reach Congress Square (Kongresni Trg) and Park Zvezda.

The Triple Bridge / Tromostovje
The Triple Bridge (Tromostovje) is probably the most famous of Ljubljana’s sites. Here you will find the centre of the city, and the three bridges connect the sides of the town together. The Triple Bridge has been used by Slovenians since the medieval times, and was said to connect north-western Europe with the Balkans. From The Triple Bridge you can go from Prešeren Square to the Petkovšek Embankment, The Dragon Bridge, and Ljubljana Castle. In December, the Triple Bridge is a popular destination for families and couples, as they come to see the bridge lit up with Christmas illuminations. It can get quite busy, so make sure you come early!

The Dragon Bridge / Zmajski Most
The Dragon Bridge (Zmajski Most) is a great location to take photos as the statues are very unique! This is an iconic spot in Ljubljana, and although it can be quite busy with cyclists and pedestrians, it is still quite an easy spot to get a good photo.

VERDICT
The most instagrammable locations in Ljubljana are totally worth the visit
There are just so many spots to take photos in Ljubljana because it is a very traditional city with very few tourists. That means it is the perfect spot for all your travel photos because you can take your time without feeling pressured. It is also a small city so it is easy to get around and see everything in a day.
