Venice Photo Diary: How to Spend 24 Gorgeous Hours

A Venice Photo Diary

Venice is this incredibly picturesque city in Italy. You’ve got these charming canals winding through the whole place, and it’s just perfect for those dreamy gondola rides. We spent 1 day there, arriving in the evening and leaving in the afternoon the following day.

What you will find here

Here you’ll find a series of photographs documenting my time in Venice. With these kind of posts I let the pictures speak for themselves. For more photo diaries of Italy, you can check out my photo diary of Florence.

How to spend 24 hours in Venice

What to see in Venice

Of course when we were there we wanted to wander St. Mark’s Square (Piazza San Marco) and see the main events like Doge’s Palace and Saint Mark’s Basilica. We also had some time to check out the art museum Museo Correr which was included in our pass. We wandered over the popular bridges Ponte della Paglia and Rialto Bridge but didn’t spend too long there. For my favourite photo spots make sure you read my post about instagrammable spots in Venice.

What to eat in Venice

Honestly I found the food in Venice rather disappointing. There are basically no vegan-friendly spots in Venice apart from La Tecia Vegana, which is very popular so make sure you book in advance. We did not make a booking (oops!) but were able to get some takeaway food. Gelato was our go-to while staying in Venice, as gelato is pretty vegan-friendly in Italy.

Afternoon in Venice

The sun starting to get lower on a hot afternoon.

Where to stay in Venice

We stayed right by the station as we only had 24 hours and did not want to drag our luggage around. The hotel we stayed at was called Venice Times Hotel and it was a great option for a hotel that is price-friendly, close to the station, and modern.

VERDICT

Verdict: Is Venice worth visiting?

Please don’t listen to the naysayers – Venice is a gorgeous city that is worth visiting. I would say that 1 day was enough to see most sights, but I’d love to visit again!
