What Are The Best Vegan eats in Florence?
Italy is secretly your accidently-vegan-friend, so you’ll find lots of vegan eats in Florence. There are not so many vegan-only restaurants, but what I found was that the majority of regular places had something available that would work. Here, I’ll share some of my fav vegan spots I found while visiting Florence.
What you will find here
Here you will find some of my suggestions and it only includes places I’ve actually visited! They’re not all vegan-only spots, as that is a little bit harder to find. If you’re looking for vegan-only, I’ve labelled them for you. Love Florence? Read about my favourite spots to take photos!
Cafes with Vegan options in Florence
There’s a chain of stores called Shake Cafe that are super cute, very Bali-esque vibes and they serve massive iced coffees that will quench your iced coffee needs.
You’ll also find that most cafes offer soy milk and bakeries will have a wide range of breads for you. I tend to opt for something like focaccia with olives or sundried tomatoes which is very popular in Florence.
Gelateria that are Vegan-friendly in Florence
If you have to pick one, I highly recommend Venchi. It is a chain store that you can find all over Italy, but it is so good for vegans! They have a range of gelato and chocolates that are vegan. Plus, they often have a chocolate fountain behind the counter that is both disgusting and fascinating at the same time. The chocolates are quite fancy, and make the perfect gift for your vegan friends too. Everything that is vegan is labelled clearly so its easy to order!
Other options are Gelateria Santa Trinita and Amorino. The latter is famous for their flower-shaped ice cream and gelato macarons (the macarons are unfortunately not vegan). Both have some really delicious vegan options. Gelateria Santa Trinita is on the other side of the river so make sure you go when you are heading over to Pitti Palace.
Vegan Meals To Eat in Florence
Sandwiches are a big thing in Florence (who knew?), so much so that they even have a whole street dedicated to these small sandwich shops. One of the most popular ones, I’ Girone De’ Ghiotti has a vegan option (it does include truffle cream).
Another great place we tried was Mister Pizza which serves delicious pizzas in a range of vegan offerings. Mister Pizza also has gluten-free options, too!
VERDICT
Verdict: Is Florence a good place for vegan food?
I would say vegan eats in Florence are good, but not the best. You’ll be able to find something to eat, but it is not a vegan haven like some more vegan-progressive cities.
