Why should you visit Hibiya Park Tokyo?
Hibiya Park Tokyo is a gorgeous park right in the heart of Tokyo. It is round the corner from the Imperial Palace as well as a quick walk from Shimbashi and Ginza. Unlike the tourist favourites Ueno Park, Shinjuku Gyoen National Park, and Yoyogi Park, Hibiya Park is popular among salarymen looking for a quick break from the concrete jungle and families enjoying a quiet spot for lunch.
What you will find here
This post will tell you all about what makes Hibiya Park so special. This park isn’t a super fancy massive tourist attraction (If you’re looking for more Tokyo recommendations, I’m your girl), but it still has a lot going on due to its prime location!
What Is there to do at Hibiya Park in Tokyo?
See cherry blossoms at Hibiya Park
Hibiya Park is not the most famous location in Tokyo for cherry blossoms, but it has beautiful blooms where you can sit uninterrupted. You’ll find them on the south-western side of the park. Grab a coffee from Tullys and sit down at the Crane Fountain and watch the day go by.
See the lilies at Hibiya Park
The lilies at Hibiya Park are located just east of the Crane Fountain. They’re one of the most important blooms in Tokyo you can see during July. Many keen photographers visit during this time to see the large collection of lilies.
Take in nature right in the heart of the city
There are many quiet spots and a few Japanese gardens with ponds around the park. Juxtaposed against the tall, grey buildings, it is quite a sight to see. You’ll find crane birds at the pond at Crane Fountain, and turtles at Shinji-ike Pond.
Have a picnic
There are plenty of picnic spots as well as seats to enjoy here. It is a hotspot during Monday to Friday salarymen who want to eat their lunch in peace and quiet. There are also a few restaurants (such as Matsumotoro) and cafes at Hibiya Park, many with outdoor seating (such as Hibiyasarao – which is a beer garden during the summer months!). To the North-Western side of the park there are plenty of places for kids to play so if you have kids, that is the best place to go. If you’re looking for some piece and quiet away from the squeals and shrieks of happy kids, there are plenty of spots to be found away from that side of the park.
What are the best vegan eats near Hibiya Park?
Unfortunately the restaurants and cafes do not cater for vegans, however there is a Tullys which has some vegan snacks and plant based coffee options. I recommend grabbing something from Mr. Farmer or Ta-Im (both have vegan options) when you get off at Hibiya Station and bring it over to the park.
When is the best time to visit Hibiya Park?
The best time in my opinion is during summer as the lilies at Hibiya Park are the best collection you’ll see in Tokyo. There is also plenty of shade which makes it a great spot to be outside during the hottest months in Tokyo. Spring and autumn are also fantastic times as you’ll be able to experience the autumnal leaves or spring blossoms.
How do you get to Hibiya Park?
The easiest way to get to Hibiya Park is getting off at Hibiya Station, but there are honestly so many ways as it is bang in the centre of Tokyo! You can also easily walk to the park in a few minutes from Yūrakuchō Station (Yurakucho Line), Shimbashi Station (Yurikamome, Yokosuka Line, Yamanote Line, Ueno-Tokyo Line, Keihin-Tōhoku Line, Ginza Line, and Asakusa Line), Toranomon Station, and Sakuradamon Station, and even Kasumigaseki Station (Chiyoda Line, Hibiya Line , and Marunouchi Line). As you can see, it is super connected. It is basically the easiest park in the world to get to!

Is Hibiya Park Worth A Visit?
I think Hibiya Park is one of the best parks you’ll find in inner Tokyo. If you’re staying in the area and looking for somewhere that isn’t a tourist trap but is still super accessible – Hibiya Park is perfect! Plus it is right next to Imperial Palace, so you really can’t miss it.
