First Impressions
What I love about Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu is that it is hidden down a long lane lined with trees (and even cows!) so you really get the feeling of being somewhere nice and quiet. On arrival to the hotel, the view is quite spectacular as they have a sort of infinity pond overlooking the main hotel facilities like the pool. They have traditional Balinese musicians playing Gamelan.
We were way too early to check in (that is totally fine – we arrived early). They were able to hold our luggage while we went into town and grabbed a coffee. We did ask if it was possible to check out late as we had a 9pm flight and they told us they’d let us know tomorrow if it was possible (again, totally fine – we kind of forgot to sort something out). We ended up not being able to check out later than 12.30pm, but we were able to use the facilities for the day.
The Look
The look of the Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu is very much my vibe. My partner and I are a 30-something-childfree DINK (dual income, no kids) couple, and this expansive, clean, modern but natural design resort is exactly what we like.
The Room
Our room was a very decent size, with modern amenities. The bathroom was sleek and the room had a big balcony that had a cool monkey-deterrant design. It even came with a monkey stick to shoo away any critters that might get through, which I thought was hilarious.
On the second day after the room was cleaned they left a selection of desserts and a bottle of sparkling wine for us. This was a really nice touch however, my partner is lactose intolerant and I am vegan! So I had to call and double-check if we were able to eat them. The front desk let us know that there were some meringues on the plate that had no milk so my partner was able to eat those however there was nothing vegan-friendly.
Also… we don’t drink alcohol! So we left the wine unopened and hopefully they would be able to reuse that. It was a really nice idea but I feel like a lot of it wouldn’t have been wasted if they checked with us during check-in if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions.
The Facilities
Pool
The pool at Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu is excellent and has lots of areas to laze around in the sun, and even though there were some kids at this resort, it was far quieter than the hotel we had previously stayed at (Hilton Bali Resort). There are canopies for families and couples to lie in, so it feels a little more private. The nearby bar and cafe is aesthetically beautiful with frangipani trees and low benches to lounge around on.
Gym & Spa
There is also a gym (pretty standard) and a beautiful spa. We used the spa showers and bathroom to have a shower and get changed from our swimsuits into the clothes we would wear to the airport on the last day as we were unable to organise a late checkout (the hotel was full). The spa area is lovely, with delicious floral smells. However, the lockers in the shower area and gym do not lock. The shower and toilet cubicles are also not exactly the most private, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to leave your luggage there.
The Food & Drink
The breakfast is served in the main restaurant, and the selection seemed a little small for a chain resort hotel buffet breakfast. The allergen information was also very difficult to understand. Things like butter were not labeled as dairy, but I saw dairy labelled as an allergen on some other foods. Some desserts had allergen labels and some did not. All in all, with my lactose-intolerant partner’s and my vegan dietary restrictions it meant we played it safe and stuck to the more simple options such as fruit.
We also went to the restaurant Artichoke during the day to grab lunch, which was able to accommodate our dietary needs. However, they did bring us some bread with pesto and butter for the table which of course neither of us could touch! The food was OK and I would say its a good option if you can’t be bothered to walk to the Uluwatu shops (but with cafes like Alchemy Bali around the corner, why wouldn’t you?).
The Location
The location of Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu is perfect if you want to explore the quieter side of Uluwatu. It is only a 10 minute walk to the shops where you can enjoy amazing coffee, pop into the convenience store, or visit the local brewery.
Walking towards the cliffside, you’ll find the path to Impossibles Beach right outside the door of Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu. Sunset at Impossibles Beach is a must and it is totally worth the steps! For more travel stories from Bali, read here.
How To Book Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu
My favourite way to book hotels is through Booking.com. Booking.com offers a price guarantee (even when not paying upfront and paying at the hotel), they match prices, and they also offer a wide range of rooms with benefits (like afternoon tea and breakfast). Who would love to stay at Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu?
Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu is perfect for DINKs (dual income, no kids), SINKs (single income, no kids), and couples with older, savvy kids who can entertain themselves. Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu has beautiful, quiet grounds where you can just relax and enjoy watching the monkeys try and steal stuff from the sun-beds. It is also close to the chic cafes and cliffside so it is perfect for people who just want a relaxing holiday where your entire plan for the day is to pop out and grab a coffee then sit by the pool with a book.
