Everything You Need To Know About Beautiful Jezero Jasna

Why should you visit Jezero Jasna, Slovenia?

Jezero Jasna, or ‘Lake Jasna’, is an area you can stop off at just before the road to the Vršič Pass when coming from Kranjska Gora. It features two lakes alongside the Pišnica river and sits in between gorgeous mountains. It is a popular road trip stop for locals and tourists alike.

What you will find here

This post will tell you all about my personal experience visiting during my road trip through Vršič Pass. If you are also planning a road trip around Slovenia, I have lots of travel guides for Slovenia for you!

What Is there to do at Jezero Jasna?

Visit the Kozorog statue

The Kozorog, or ‘Alpine ibex’, statue is placed right by the lake and features a backdrop of gorgeous mountains. This is probably the most popular side of the lakes, as this is where you will also find the cafes, accommodation, and parking at Jezero Jasna.

Walk around the lakes

The path around Jezero Jasna is a leisurely stroll and mostly an unpaved, well-worn path but it also includes boardwalks and a bridge to cross over half-way. There is also a wooden viewing platform. It won’t take you more than 30 minutes to walk around the lake!

Don’t forget to play tourist! There is a wooden arch with a bench which makes for the perfect photo spot of the lake and the mountains for the backdrop.

What are the best vegan eats at Jezero Jasna?

If you’re looking for vegan options at Jezero Jasna, you will probably be disappointed. There are no vegan-friendly options here so your best bet is to grab something at the supermarket at Kranjska Gora. There is a small ice cream stand at Jezero Jasna that might have vegan gelato options available, you will have to ask on the day.

When is the best time to visit Jezero Jasna?

Since Lake Jasna is on the way to Vršič Pass, it is important to check and make sure the roads you plan to take will be open during winter due to snowfall. Otherwise, it is a perfect stop year round. We visited at about 11am on a weekday during September and there were hardly any crowds!

How do you get to Lake Jasna?

Jezero Jasna is only about a 5 minute drive from Kranjska Gora however there is no public transportation so if you don’t have a car it would be about a 30 minute walk down the main road which has a dedicated foot path. It is also about a 10 minute drive from the Austrian border.

VERDICT

Is it worth a visit to Jezero Jasna?

I think if you’re looking for somewhere to stretch your legs before some very windy roads over Vršič Pass, Jezero Jasna is a great place to stop. If you’re into photography or beautiful views, this is a great spot to stop and take some photos. If you love nature, this might be a great place to stay in one of the local hotels. However, if you’re looking for somewhere to stop and stock up on road trip snacks or have lunch, this isn’t the best option in my opinion and it is better to do that in Kranjska Gora.
