Why You Need to Visit Beautiful Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden

Why should you visit Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden, Slovenia?

The Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden (The Alpinum Juliana) is a small botanical garden along the Vršič Pass. It is located on the Trenta side, in the Soča Valley. We stopped here during our road trip from Kranjska Gora through Idrija.

What you will find here

This post will tell you about my personal experience visiting the Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden during my trip to Slovenia in September. If you are also planning to travel to Slovenia (especially for a road trip) I have lots of Slovenia guides to help you!

Wander the grounds

The grounds are small but there are lots of tiny paths to wander around and see a variety of flowers. It is a great way to stretch your legs after a long drive on a beautiful day. These paths are small and sometimes uneven, so take your time.

What are the best vegan eats near Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden?

There are no vegan options nearby Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden, so make sure you pack some snacks or visit a nearby town supermarket like Kranjska Gora (Trenta doesn’t have a proper supermarket).

When is the best time to visit Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden?

Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden opening times are from May 1 to September 30, every day from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m and it costs 5 euro per person or 10 euro per family (at the time of writing). We went during September on a nice sunny day and it was a great break to take after lots of driving. However, this is an alpine garden so the best time to come depends on the flowers that you want to see! Summer isn’t the best time for alpine flowers to bloom, so you probably want to visit in the late spring to see it in all its glory.
