Where to find great quintessential dutch vegan food in Amsterdam
So you’re going to Amsterdam and of course you want to eat the best vegan food in Amsterdam. But you don’t want just another burger joint, you want the traditional dutch food that you’ve heard such great things about. Well, I got you!

What you will find here
This post will tell you all about the vegan spots I visited in Amsterdam during my trip that are totally worth the visit. This is my personal opinion based on my own experience exploring Amsterdam so I hope it will help you. If you want to know more about my trip to Amsterdam, I wrote a guide to 3 days in Amsterdam, too!

Vegan stroopwafels in Amsterdam
Queens Stroopwafels
If you’re going to Amsterdam, one of the most important things to try is a stroopwafel. Vegan food in Amsterdam is pretty common but not all stroopwafel stores sell vegan options. However, Queens Stroopwafels has both fresh vegan stroopwafels with a range of vegan toppings as well as prepackaged stroopwafels that make great souvenirs. They have caramel on the inside and are dipped in chocolate. I chose the speculoos topping!
Where to find Queens Stroopwafels:
Kalverstraat 198, 1012 XH Amsterdam, Netherlands

Vegan bakeries in Amsterdam
Saint-Jean Amsterdam
Saint-Jean is a bakery located on the corner of one of the most picturesque parts of Amsterdam. This fully vegan bakery looks like it was plucked straight out of Pinterest and offers a wide range of pastries that will satisfy all your breakfast needs. Plus, there is a deli across the road for lunch! Just one thing to note – seating is basically non-existent here, but we ended up taking our danishes and sitting on a park bench overlooking the Amsterdam canals. Which, tbf, is the vibe you really want.
Where to find Saint-Jean Amsterdam:
Lindengracht 158h, 1015 KK Amsterdam, Netherlands (Saint-Jean Deli is just across the road!)

Margo’s Amsterdam
Oh, you’re still craving more delicious danishes? Well, it is a good thing that Margo’s is just around the corner! Located down a small and quiet street, you’ll find Margo’s. This bakery offers baked goods and ice cream. We grabbed a bunch of danishes here (ofc) but we also got some very delicious coffee!
Where to find Margo’s Amsterdam:
Eerste Tuindwarsstraat 2A, 1015 RV Amsterdam, Netherlands

Is it easy to find vegan food in supermarkets in Amsterdam?
Hell to the yes! I’m from Melbourne, so I’m not used to having to look very far for vegan food on the regular but Amsterdam really showed me what I’m missing out on. Amsterdam supermarkets are generally smaller, convenient shops designed for metro living and I noticed the biggest chain stores were really future-thinking in terms of veganism. In stores, it is easy to spot a vegan item because they have a special label on the shelf, making it so easy to find what you’re looking for.
My pro tip is to check out the “egg” wraps. This might be a bit niche but they taste like たまごサンド (egg sandwich) from Lawson.

VERDICT
Is Amsterdam vegan friendly?
Amsterdam is incredibly vegan-friendly and is considered one of the most vegan-friendly places on Earth! I can attest that finding vegan food in Amsterdam is super easy – even at typical restaurants. With chainstore grocery stores selling so many vegan options too, I never felt like I had to worry about searching for vegan safe havens in advance.
