Most Beautiful Places in Europe to Add to Your Bucket List
Why you should visit Europe:
Europe is home to some of the most beautiful places to visit due to its rich history, diverse cultures, stunning natural landscapes, and exceptional architecture. I bet we have all had that Parisienne dream where we wander down a cobblestone street filled with boutique shops, and spot the perfect rattan chair before a small chic coffee shop. A cosy little spot to read a novel, people watch, and become a muse for all those who walk past us.
What you will find here:
I have been visiting Europe for inspiration for over a decade, ever since I first moved to England as a young person eager to experience a different lifestyle on the other side of the world. Sure, I have not visited everywhere in Europe, but below you will find my personal recommendations for the most beautiful places in Europe. I have chosen places that are sure to capture and inspire your creativity, as they have done for me.

The most beautiful places in Europe for…
City Life
Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona was one of the first spots that I visited in Europe, and I was hooked. If you love amazing art, beautiful and unique parks, and streets lined with diners enjoying Catalonia – alfresco style. While you’re there, don’t miss Antoni Gaudí’s Park Güell.
Vienna, Austria
My personal favourite city, something brings me back to Vienna time and time again. It might be the beautiful architecture that is second to none, it might be the luxurious old-world style cafes, or it might simply be the fact that Vienna is what Paris promises (and fails to deliver). When you’re there, make sure you visit one of the famous coffee houses like Gerstner K. u. K. Hofzuckerbäcker to immerse yourself in the Viennese lifestyle.
Budapest, Hungary
The tale of two cities, where both are as special as the other. Like Vienna, Budapest has an old-world feel that is still shining through the gentrification of modern life. With a stunning river that separates the two sides, you really feel like you get two for one in this city. Not to mention, it is far more affordable than some of the other cities in Europe. Make sure you get over to Fisherman’s Bastion to the best views of Budapest city.

The most beautiful places in Europe for…
Tradition
Hallstatt Austria
Another win for Austria, Hallstatt is one of those charming villages that looks untouched by time. Unlike a lot of other traditional villages, Hallstatt is a decent size and is free of modern architectural interference. The views from the picturesque village of the nearby mountain lake are a must see. I highly recommend you visit during winter, as the snow-capped homes and the crystal clear lake make for perfect photos.
Rovinj Old Town, Croatia
Historic streetscapes are featured in most European cities, and offer insight into the way these towns once functioned. Rovinj, on Croatia’s Istrian coast is one of the best. With influences from Croatia and Italy, this old town is well preserved and still holds its unique character. When visiting, you must make your way up to St. Euphemia, for views of the Rovinj archipelago and Istrian peninsula.
Nuremberg, Germany
If you’re interested in Germanic history, Nuremberg has a lot to offer. From war history all the way to the Middle Ages, Nuremberg prides itself on making sure that the past is not forgotten. Nuremberg is also one of the most beautiful places to visit during winter as it hosts one of the oldest and most popular Christmas markets in the world. Nuremberg is famous for their spiced Christmas gingerbread cookies, Lebkuchen, which you must try when visiting in winter. For more on this magical place, read my post all about the Nuremberg Christmas Markets.

The most beautiful places in Europe for…
Nature
Velika Planina, Slovenia
If you are looking for the most beautiful nature spots in Europe, you will find them in Slovenia. Famous for their mountainous terrain and breath-taking valleys, Slovenia is Europe’s best-kept secret. At Velika Planina, you’ll find plenty of nature including some of the most beautiful spring flowers. In the sea of purple flowers, you’ll also get views of traditional alpine huts used by shepherds. Wander among the herdsmen’s huts or go on one of the numerous hiking trails in the mountain plateau.
Lake Bled, Slovenia
In the Julian Alps you’ll find a lake that reflects like a mirror, you’ll also see something that looks like it is straight out of a fairytale. In the middle of this picturesque green-blue lake is The Church of Mary the Queen. Rent a small paddle boat and enjoy the experience of wading out to the small church, walk up the winding stairs, marvel at the quaint chapel, and make a note to yourself that no other wedding venue will ever compare. The entire lake is worth a visit – many walking trails wind around the lake. The most beautiful place in Lake Bled for photos is up at the castle on the hill. With panoramic views of the lake and church, you will feel like this is just too good to be real!
