What is the difference between lebua State Tower and Tower Club?

Tower Club is the topmost floors (between 53rd and 59th floor) of the 5 star luxury hotel, lebua hotel. Featuring expansive views and one of the best spots in Bangkok to take photos, the hotel consists of only suites. The rest of the hotel is known as lebua at State Tower.

First impressions

The hotel lobby was bustling both when we arrived late at night from a long haul flight and on the morning we were leaving. Tower Club at lebua has its own area for check-in, and all guests at lebua hotel are ushered to sit down, have a cool drink, and given a cold oshibori (oshibori is Japanese for a type of wet towel given to customers as a greeting, I’m not sure what it is called in Thailand sorry). There is a constant ebb and flow of people as visitors get herded in towards the elevators and taken up to the rooftop bars.

The Look

Think grand, think stately, think… slightly dated. The hotel is just on the cusp of being told by visitors that it needs a renovation.

The room

The room is really big – even by Bangkok standards. The bathroom is large, with a decent size bath and marble trims. The room also has a kitchen hallway, which when living in Asia and looking for apartments – was always on my “veto list”, but in a hotel I could see it being a plus. The main attraction, of course, is the balcony and the views.

Can you open the balcony at the lebua hotel?

It comes locked, but if you ring reception they will send someone up to unlock it.

The facilities

The gym

The gym is nicely equipped with weights, cardio machines, and all the iced water and fresh towels you’ll ever need. It is right in front of the pool, so you get to watch those brave enough to lounge about in front of the gym while you work out.

The Pool

The pool sits wedged between Cafe Mozu’s outside eating area and the gym, meaning that while you sit outside and eat your breakfast you get to watch the poor souls (who have probably been up since 5am) finally cave in and bring their children down to swim at 7am, hoping they tire themselves out.

The Food & Drink

Tower Club Lounge at lebua

The lebua tower club lounge is open during the day for those staying at the Tower Club at lebua. They serve breakfast there, a light lunch from 12-3pm, afternoon tea 3-6pm, and complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages daily. When we checked in, we were told that Cafe Mozu has a better buffet breakfast and I am really glad that the lady at the check-in told me that because she was 100% correct.

I don’t drink so I couldn’t make the most of the free-flowing drinks at the lounge (just a note – the early evening seemed to be the only time the tower club was busy). There were zero capanes or snacks on offer that were vegan at the tower club so I didn’t have much of a reason to use the tower club lounge.

What is the dress code for the Tower Club Lounge at lebua?

The Tower Club has a smart casual dress code that applies, meaning athletic wear, slippers, flip flops and Birkenstocks are not permitted for adults or children. I saw men being turned away for wearing shorts, too.

Cafe Mozu

The breakfast on offer at the Tower Club Lounge is limited whereas the options at Cafe Mozu are basically endless. From sushi to freshly squeezed juices to noodle stations to Indian food, Cafe Mozu has everything covered. There are plenty of vegan options at this buffet breakfast and everything is labelled.

Rooftop bars at lebua

There are several rooftop bars at lebua and staying at the hotel means they’re a lot easier to go to. I have been to Sky Bar on my last visit to Bangkok, which I highly recommend if you are not staying at the hotel as it really is the best view you’ll find in Bangkok.

The Location

I love this location as I’ve stayed at a nearby hotel (Shangri-La, Bangkok) before. It is so easy to zip across the river to Icon Siam, the best mall in Bangkok in my humble opinion. Being in this area means you’re going to be able to get to all the goodies like Wat Arun, The Grand Palace, and Chinatown and be back before the crowds get there. More fun things to do in Thailand over here.

How To Book the tower club at lebua

My favourite way to book hotels is through Booking.comBooking.com offers a price guarantee (even when not paying upfront and paying at the hotel), they match prices, and they also offer a wide range of rooms with benefits (like afternoon tea and breakfast). Click to see the availability for Hotel lebua.

VERDICT

My Grade:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

4.5/5

High point of my stay:

The buffet breakfast at Cafe Mozu (available to all hotel lebua guests).

Low point of my stay:

Waiting for the elevators once the rooftop bars open.

Who would love to stay at hotel lebua?

If you’re a family or a group of friends looking for extra space then a suite is a great option and this is something available at the Tower Club at lebua. If you’re a big drinker and don’t have any dietary restrictions, the included food and drink options at the tower club lounge are a good deal.
