Best Sites for Planning a Vacation: Make Travelling Easy

How to Plan The Best Trip Possible

If you’re looking to plan your next holiday and have no idea where to start, you have come to the right place! I’ve put together a list of my best sites for planning a vacation based on the websites I use regularly. I’m always looking for the best deal, the cutest hotel, and the best experiences so if you think I’ve missed something let me know @apicturesquelife. If you’re looking for some recommendations for places to visit, check out my travel blogs.

Planning

Pinterest

Pinterest has a search feature that allows users to discover pins and boards related to specific keywords or topics which makes it perfect for planning. I organise boards based on places I want to go to, so then I have all the resources for a country or town in one place. There are SO many great travel blogs out there and most of them share their resources on Pinterest so it’s a great place to discover new sites, too.

Goodnotes

Goodnotes is super awesome for travel journaling if you have an iPad. It is free for the first 3 journals and I use it one of those as my travel journal, so I have all my notes in one place. You can download templates on sites like Etsy, too.

Flights

Google Flights

Google flights is my go-to website for researching tickets. I love that you can click explore and view prices for different countries. Once you’ve selected the country you’re interested in, my favourite view is the date grid so I can see where the cheapest flight is. Please note: I always book directly through the airline. It’s the safest option!

Seat Guru

Whenever I book my flight, I check Seat Guru to see what the seats are like. They let you know the in’s and outs of every aircraft so you won’t get stuck in a seat that cannot recline or near a noisy part of the plane.

Accommodation

Booking.com

Do you have a Booking.com account? If not, get one! I use booking.com for all of my hotels and it is definitely one of the best sites to use for planning a vacation. Booking.com has some amazing deals and my favourite part is that you also get Genius discounts for certain hotels with your account so login and see whats on sale!

Luxury Escapes

I use Luxury Escapes sometimes to get a good package deal. Some of my favourite hotels that aren’t on Booking.com often have deals here (like The Mulia), and you’ll get benefits like breakfast included in some packages.

AirBnB

I sometimes use AirBnb if I’m looking for a cottage getaway, if I am travelling with a larger group of friends, or if I am staying longer than 2 weeks at a time. Otherwise, I’ll book a hotel or resort through Booking.com.

Experiences

GET YOUR GUIDE

Get Your Guide is like Klook or Viator. It is a website/app where you can book things like tours, experiences, and guides. I don’t think it really matters which one you use as they’re all well-known companies but I use Get Your Guide mostly.

Tiqets

Tiqets is great for booking things that require a ticket so you can have them all in one place. I use it for things like museums, art galleries, and Disney.

Tools for Travel

Rental cars

Rental Cars.com has all the rental car brands in one spot so you can find the best option for your trip.

Rail Europe

Rail Europe has all the train lines in one place so you can figure out which route you can take when travelling over Europe!

Airalo

Airalo is what I use for a sim card when I go overseas. It is an e-sim and works in most countries that I’ve been to!

Bikes booking

If you prefer to use a bike when exploring a new city, you can pre-book em at Bikes Booking!
