The Landmark Hotel Bangkok
About the hotel
Who: The Landmark Bangkok Hotel
Where: 138 Sukhumvit Rd, Khwaeng Khlong Toei, Khet Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
What: A 5-star hotel that is located near Nana Plaza in Bangkok
Room Type: We had actually booked a Premium Club room but as it was New Years and we arrived before check-in, all the Premium Club rooms weren’t ready. They gave us a Deluxe Suite on a lower floor so we could check in early, which was really great.
First impressions
When we arrived at The Landmark Bangkok it was a little confusing as to where to go as there were some renovations being done. This meant that the main restaurant was closed and breakfast was only served in the club lounge on the top floor. We had already booked club access so it didn’t feel like such a good deal for us! VIP check in and check out at the Club Lounge is on the 31st floor
The Look
The hotel doesn’t have a modern feel but it certainly isn’t old or unkept. It is in good condition and feels intimate yet grand at the same time.
The room
The room was one of the best rooms we have had in Bangkok. It was very spacious and the bathroom was absolutely gorgeous. I’m not sure if it had been recently renovated but it seemed like it had been. There is a separate lounge where you’ll find a sofa, coffee table, and desk. I could easily stay here and work without feeling claustrophobic. The bed was super comfy with plenty of space for two.
The facilities
Pool
The pool at the Landmark Hotel Bangkok is great for an inner city hotel. We found it easy to find chairs by the pool, even in the middle of the day. There also weren’t a lot of kids at this hotel which made the pool a lot more enjoyable.
Gym
The gym here is a Fitness First located in Landmark Plaza next door but is connected to the hotel through an elevator in the main lobby. This means the gym is exceptional as it has all the equipment you’ll ever need and plenty of staff if you need help. I went to the gym almost every day while I stayed here which tells you how great it was.
The Food & Drink
I feel like Thailand hotels just get how to do breakfast in general, however I did really enjoy this one more than usual. As the main restaurant was under renovation, the buffet breakfast was in the club lounge for all guests. It was a little crowded and did not have the kind of selection that somewhere like Iebua has. The reason I like this breakfast is because they have a la carte options as well so as a vegan I was able to get avocado on toast which was exactly what I wanted for breakfast.
Evening drinks are also served at the club lounge, where we had some juice and mocktails as we don’t drink. There were not any food options in the buffet of snacks that were vegan so we just enjoyed the view.
The Location
The location is something you’ll either love or hate. I have been to Bangkok a couple of times and personally, I am a little over this area. Although you’ll find most of the popular vegan restaurants in this area as well as some of the big malls within walking distance, because of its proximity to Nana Plaza it gets quite seedy. And by seedy I mean a lot of the people staying in this area are mostly 20 and 30 something, muscle tank-wearing Australian men that always look just a little bit dirty.
How To Book The Landmark Bangkok Hotel
My favourite way to book hotels is through Booking.com. Booking.com offers a price guarantee (even when not paying upfront and paying at the hotel), they match prices, and they also offer a wide range of rooms with benefits (like afternoon tea and breakfast). VERDICT
My Grade:
4/5
You can learn all about how I assess hotels here.
High point of my stay:
The late checkout of 4pm for Club Lounge members as we had an evening flight.
Low point of my stay:
The train was quite loud from our room during the night.
Who would love to stay at Landmark Hotel in Bangkok Thailand?
I think if you’re coming to Bangkok and you love those big city feels, The Landmark Bangkok Hotel is an excellent choice. If you’re going out during the day or night, you’ll be close to all of the action and if you need to travel the train is right outside the doorstep. Is it worth staying at The Landmark Bangkok Hotel? Yes, I would definitely stay here again. I think that the value for money was fantastic, even though there were renovations being done. Even though I’m not too big of a fan of the area, you can’t deny it is incredibly convenient.
